Ikaria
Island is conected with the art of wine and other grape products,
at all times.
One of the
oldest cities on the island bearing the name "Oinoi"
that comes from the word "Oinos" meaning "Wine",
revealing the existence of wine growing since ancient times. In
recent history we see an island revolves around the production
of the famous Ikarian raisins, which was the main export product
of the island to the surrounding islands and Mikra Asia.
Unlike raisins
that with appropriate treatment could be traveling by sea outside
the island, Ikarian wine during transportation turned into vinegar,
so the consumption was limited on the island. Today, the modern
winery of Tsantiris wines, produces and promote the famous Ikarian
wine, traveling it all around the world!
