The Vineyards
Vineyards with love, passion and vision.
Wine production in Ikaria has its roots in ancient times, where it was the designated origin of one of the most famous wines, “Pramnios Wine”. In this land, with its special character, lies our family vineyard of 60 acres. In the slopes of Proespera, at the northwest of Ikaria, at an altitude of 450 meters in dry stone terraces, between scattered granite boulders, we cultivate with biological methods, the versatile Fokiano, exuberant Mandilaria, charismatic Begleri and the versatile Assyrtiko.
Harvesting and cultivation are done manually, making the procedure significantly difficult and leading to small crops per plant, but especially qualitative with strong aroma and flavor. The vine harvesting season varies depending on the degree of vine maturation.
Sloping fields exposed to sun and wind, caressed by the Aegean breeze, compose a scene which renders wine cultivating a challenge. We feel blessed in receiving from and granting vigour to the land of our ancestors.

The winemaker behind the vision
Meet Kosta Tsantiri
Kostas Tsantiris is a 4th generation winemaker who, next to his grandfather Konstanti, from an early age fell in love with nature and formed an intimate attachment to the landscape of Ikaria. While growing up in Athens and during his successful ventures in business, he never stopped visiting his grandfather and his father Kyriako, in order to create together their own traditional Ikarian wine at the estate. His greatest dream was to return to the island and dive into what he loved most, the vines.
In 2000, armed with the knowledge in vine cultivating he had inherited, he returned with his wife Domina Glarou and the dream was fulfilled. They established the winery in the vineyard of his grandfather and they envisaged to create with love and passion, unique biological wines, that highlight the diversity of Ikarian varieties.
To this day, they continue along with their children Nassia and Yiannis, to create and evolve the quality of their wines and the visitor center of the winery, transcending it into a real attraction.

The History of wine in Ikaria
From Pramnios Wine . . . to Ikaria of our days.
Pramnios Wine
Ikaria is historically linked to Pramnios Wine, one of the most famous wines of antiquity. Homer, in his epic tales, refers to Pramnios as a strong and rich wine used not only for accompanying meals but also as medicine, mixed with herbs, honey and goat cheese. This wine is connected with the worship of Dionysus, god of wine and fertility, who according to mythology was devoutly worshiped in Ikaria. Pramnios Wine was not a simple wine but a symbol of the spirit and prosperity of its era.
In Ikaria, wine is a way of living, a part of daily life and local culture. It is a symbol of simplicity and connection to nature – characteristics that have made Ikaria famous worldwide as a place where time flows differently.
The inheritance today
The long history of wine making in Ikaria, is continuing today with the production of high quality wines, honoring the island’s inheritance. Every sip from a glass of Ikarian wine constitutes a trip through time, a connection to the roots of antiquity and to Ikarian authentic life.
